Chocolate and Beer Fest and Vday 2012!

Here is this years poster for the Chocolate and Beer Festival! This years Fest was a blast! loaded with some of the bay areas best craft brewers, chocolatiers, and jazz swing salsafunk fusion bands.

At this years festival, I was set up creating custom Valentines Day cards with your name in the shape of a heart! Unfortunately, I did not get any scans of the 8 I created that day, but here are some I created for an art show VDay contest thing at Tandoori Restaurant.

Santa Cruz Blues Festival 2011

This is my entry for the 2011 Santa Cruz Blues Festival. It's sure to be one hell of a show. I missed it last year when they had Derek and Susan play their wonderful songs of love. I'll surely be there this time around!

fake sky

This is a painting I made about how all the amazing colors we see in the sky and clouds at sunset are the result of air pollution. Light from the sun is reflected and trapped in greenhouse gasses which form more intense colors which we all seem to love so much.

Tales n' Trails of Rock n' Roll is out, I will post the images from the book within the next week!

sunset time

this was the finished piece done from the sketch a few posts down. I did something a little different than what I normally do with pastels. I put a coat of spar varnish on, then made some oil glazes and some china marker.

clouds and flowers

Some pastel drawings I've done in the past few weeks

This was a still life that started out as a silhouette but then I started adding color, and detail, and it became a pretty nice flower drawing. I think I might do more flowers like this.

This was done over spring break, I was going to get some food, and the sun beaming through the clouds looked too cool to pass up. This was a 5 minute sketch but I think because of the short time, it captured a lot of energy.
This was done the other day, I was going to draw the bridge, but thought I might try to paint the sun being blocked by a passing cloud.

Till next time,
-Matt
