symphony stories

These are two paintings derived from listening to Mozart and Beethoven. They were just little drawings I blew up and colored. No real planning was involved, just fun.

This first one is from Beethoven's second movement from Symphony No. 5
And this one is from Mozart's first movement from Symphony No. 40

These were pretty fun to do, for the first time, I transfered these drawings on to wood, put a clear gesso on, and used pastel on that. It was a strange surface, once you lay down a color, the grain of the gesso really sets back and its difficult to layer another color onto that. Its great for holding one vibrant color though. it really grips and is fun to draw on with pastel.
